Cathy Fuquay, RPh, is our consultant pharmacist and works closely with our Medical Director to assure that all of our residents’ medication therapy is appropriate. Cathy is a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist. She works with the physician and nursing staff to monitor lab work, side effects and potential drug interactions with an emphasis on eliminating all unnecessary medications.
Cathy received her BS in Pharmacy from UNC-Chapel Hill and has worked in long term care for over 25 years. She has received additional training from Harvard, in their Geriatric Update programs as well as a Traineeship in Alzheimer’s Dementia from the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP). She is considered an advocate for the dementia patient and has been a key note speaker on dementia and related issues for the National Institute of Health, Virginia Health Care Association, NC Division of Facility Services, Campbell University and the Neil Medical Educational Summit. Cathy served as the Director of the NC Chapter of ASCP for four years and was Co-Chair of the NC Division of Facility Services Psychoactive Reduction Project. In 2003, she was awarded Southeast Region Consultant Pharmacist of the Year by Pharmerica. With the passion and expertise that she brings, we are pleased to have Cathy as part of our health care team!
