Sarah was born and raised in Nash County and the town of Spring Hope in Eastern North Carolina. Her father was a Tobacco Farmer and her mother was a Home Economics teacher in the Nash County School System. She continued her education at East Carolina University obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in French and Spanish. Sarah taught in the public school system in North Carolina for nine years, before retiring to assist husband Dick start a long term care consulting business and within five short years opened The GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center in Trinity. She and Dick have operated The GrayBrier for the last 21 years, developed and operated Bay View Nursing Center in New Bern, NC for eight years, and in 2005 began developing The Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery Center in Jamestown, NC. Sarah has served as the Business Office Manager, Administrator, and Vice President of the corporations that own both The GrayBrier and The Shannon Gray, which opened in 2010. Currently Sarah is the Administrator of The Shannon Gray in Jamestown.
